In a recent LinkedIn post, CoStar Managing Director of Portfolio Strategy Hans Nordby indicated that, according to CoStar data, chances are good that Amazon will select Washington, DC as the home for its second headquarters, or HQ2.
According to Nordby, the nation’s capital area may likely win based on several key factors, including labor force potential; ease of doing business; and the comparatively low income tax rates offered in Northern Virginia.
“In our view, the most likely choice (of a specific regional location) is near Dulles Airport in Northern Virginia where a strong technology corridor has already been established,” posited Nordby. “It would also be less expensive and more suburban than the other choices.
“But, if being urban and in sight of the Capitol Building is more important, the NOMA/Union Station proposal would also be a great choice,” he continued. “The Anacostia Riverfront and Capitol Hill East are contending sites that also have their own unique attractions.”
