CoStar leaders including Hans Nordby, Managing Director of CoStar Portfolio Strategy, John Affleck, Research Strategist, and Edgar Orozco, Mobile Developer and a LEDA alumni, spoke and met with some of the nation’s highest-achieving undergraduates from low-income families at the inaugural Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA) Career Institute, a four-day event held on the campus of Brown University earlier this month.
LEDA, a preeminent national nonprofit organization dedicated to diversifying the nation’s leadership pipeline by helping high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds gain admission to the nation’s most selective colleges – and supporting their success at these institutions – recruits a new cohort of scholars each year.
The Career Institute event brought LEDA members and leaders of some of the nation’s top corporations together for an informative exploration and discussion of career paths in a variety of industries. The goal was to help these rising leaders develop the skills they need to enter and thrive in the workforce.
Nordby and Affleck gave a presentation to 45 rising sophomore students, introducing them to CoStar and the role the company plays in the commercial real estate industry, particularly in terms of how CoStar clients use data and analytics to make management and investment decisions. Orozco, a graduate of the LEDA program and a LEDA Scholar, talked to students about what to expect, and how to prepare for, interviewing in the technology industry.
CoStar is an active supporter of and ongoing contributor to LEDA’s mission and efforts. “We are honored to be able to contribute to the LEDA organization and to play a critical role in the development and success of LEDA scholars,” said CoStar Founder and Chief Executive Officer Andy Florance. “As our partnership continues, we hope to bring the passion, talent and technology expertise of LEDA students to CoStar, where they can build their careers and contribute to the continued growth of the company.”
