2000-10-31 2000 CoStar Group to Sponsor Building of Safe Playgrounds for Kids Teaming with KaBOOM!, CoStar and its Employees will build a playground in Cincinnati on November 2nd

BETHESDA, MD -- CoStar Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSGP), the leading provider of information services to the U.S. commercial real estate industry, announces that it has teamed with KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization helping communities sustain neighborhood growth through building safe and accessible playground areas. The first joint project, a playground build, will take place Thursday, November 2, at Beech Acres West in Greater Cincinnati.

Children and families in Cincinnati's West End community, where Beech Acres West is located, have been waiting years for this day to come. Beech Acres, a not for profit family center, is central to the community and serves children with emotional and behavioral problems and strives to promote change and growth for these children and their families. To date, this organization has been unable to fund a playground facility that would allow children undergoing treatment to play in between their therapeutic sessions.

On Thursday, November 2, over 150 Cincinnati-based CoStar Group employees will lend a helping hand to build a safe playground facility for the nearly 350 children in the Beech Acres West community. CoStar will close its Cincinnati offices in order to complete the day long build.

"CoStar strongly supports local communities, and I cannot think of a more worthy project that will ensure that the children of Beech Acres will have a safe playground area in which to learn and grow," said Andrew C. Florance, CEO of CoStar Group. "KaBOOM! playground projects have helped thousands of children across the country by facilitating partnerships with companies, such as CoStar, to dedicate time and valuable resources for the communities in need. Together, CoStar and KaBOOM! will help change the face of the Beech Acres neighborhood by building a playground for children and families to enjoy for years to come."

"Beech Acres is grateful to CoStar for their financial support of our community's playground, as well as to the employees who are dedicating their time to make this dream a reality for so many children and families. This partnership will provide a safe and exciting place for the 350 children at Beech Acres to play and further develop social and motor skills. This is a true testament to CoStar's dedication to enhancing the entire Cincinnati community," said Jim Mason, president and CEO of Beech Acres.

KaBOOM! will organize and manage the development of the Beech Acres West playground by overseeing procurement of materials with their partner Playground Systems and select project designers. KaBOOM! works to ensure that all safety standards are met and all equipment and designs meet or exceed current playground guidelines.

CoStar plans to partner with KaBOOM! to sponsor future playground builds for communities in need located in other CoStar markets.
